Chronic pain and nerve damage many times is associated with the following conditions:

Cancer/Oncology

This is the modification of existing massage therapy techniques in order to safely work with complications of cancer and cancer treatment. Anyone who has received or is currently receiving treatment for cancer can benefit from a massage performed by a therapist who has training and experience working with this affliction.

Scar Tissue Therapy

Scar tissue massage is a specialized technique that helps mold fresh scar tissue as it forms keeping it supple. It can also remodel old scarring, freeing up restrictions and allowing it to glide with surrounding facial planes. Therapy can begin as soon as two weeks post-op, and can be done in 15 or 30 minute sessions or as part of a full body massage.

Sciatica

Sciatica is caused by compression of nerve roots in and around the vertebrae. This compression is often caused by hypertonic muscles and connective tissue. Therapeutic massage is a great way to relax the affected areas to relieve sciatic pain. Many times people mistaken leg and back pain for sciatica. We can do some simple test to find out if it’s a connective tissue or nerve problem and create a massage program that best fits your needs.

Auto-Immune Diseases

Pain associated with Fibromyalgia, Lupus & Multiple Sclerosis are understood to be caused by constant muscle and fascia tension. This tension puts pressure on muscle fibers, nerve tissue and blood vessels. After a prolonged period of time the body responds to this with inflammation and pain. Therapeutic massage can relieve the tension that starts the chain reaction that leads to flare ups. Using techniques that release tight muscles and loosen joints gives your body space for better blood flow which is how your body gets nourishment to damaged and inflamed tissue.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel is a condition that occurs when the median nerve is compressed at the wrist. Many times this comes from manual labor, distance driving, work related activities and more. The result is usually hand and wrist pain as well as finger numbness, and loss of dexterity. It is important when addressing this issue that you start by removing restrictions at the neck and work your way down.
